Book Binding Workshop

Book Binding Workshop –May 18 & 19

Coptic Stitch

For this workshop I will be teaching the Coptic stitch and drum fold bind. This will include constructing a blank book with cover. These make great sketch books and the techniques can be used to bind printed books as well as portfolio books. These techniques can benefit all artists regardless of medium!

Supplies (I will be happy to provide these for all those that attend):

– Bristol board

– Chip board or book board

– Couple reams of paper (legal sized computer paper would work great! —nothing

super expensive) or we can use BFK for something a bit more high quality

– Aileens acid free tacky glue or PVA glue

– Large sewing needles

– Disposable cups (plastic preferred-No paper)

– Bone folders (optional)

– Glue brushes (cheap ones from a hardware store is fine)

-Floss

All those that attend should bring alternative paper if desired
