SILKSCREEN Workshop — June 22 & 23

The Screen Printing Workshop is a two day/part workshop.

Flying Elephant

Saturday – Part 1:  Beginning Techniques

On Saturday we will be working with some very basic silk screen techniques.
You will borrow a screen from the co-op to work with (wear old clothes) and will try first to make a flat of one color by blocking
out the edges of the screen with filler and printing the center area with one color.  After washing this ink from the screen you
will draw or stencil an image to be printed on top of the first print that you made.  Bring along some ideas for simple designs
to print.  We will supply inks and the screens but you will need to buy paper or may bring your own.  Smooth paper is best.
Because of the need to wash out screens and limited printing areas this workshop will be limited to 6 participants.

Sunday- Part 2: Advanced Techniques

On Sunday from noon to 5:00pm you will learn and execute the versatile Photo Emulsion Screen Printing Process from screen preparation to final printing.  It is one of the most versatile screen printing processes because it offers the widest range of printing possibilities… from delicate line art to bold, multiple color images.  You’ll also learn about the 5 Principal Screen Printing Processes as well as Screen Types, Inks and Tools.

In addition to the workshops listed below, we are also bringing back our popular Summer Membership, which includes two workshops as well as four months of unlimited studio access for a fee of $190. Summer Members can register for the two other summer workshops for $15 each.
